PX2000 is
C4I system software. It is an integrated decision-making and planning
tool designed for use in both peacetime and wartime. The system links
the various armed forces services; army, navy and air force, enabling
escalation and dissemination of information at the click of a button. |
PX2000
system comprises of 5 subsystems as below :
•
Joint
service subsystem.
•
Army or
Land Forces subsystem.
•
Navy
subsystem.
•
Air
Forces subsystem.
•
Joint
Intelligence subsystem. |
|
Though many of the functions are
similar, there are distinct differences in each of the subsystems
especially in the types of information it collects. The difference lies
in information flow during each single service operations; however a
standardized information flow is adopted for the joint service where the
3 services are involved in one operation.

|
The PX2000 system solution is based on
Microsoft Windows platform providing cost-efficient, user-friendly
integrated solution combining PX2000 custom applications with standard
off-the-shelves products on a single desktop for effective command and
control functionality. |
|
The general design philosophy of the overall PX2000
design is “integrated centralized control with de-centralized execution”
within all services in the Armed Forces with the following key features: |
|
• |
Common operating systems (OS) and messaging (e-mail)
systems and
networking allowing effective system interconnection, inter-service data
communication and messaging. |
|
• |
Common software application across services. |
|
• |
Minimum inter-site dependencies for full system operation. |
|
• |
Common database structure, distributed database / data store. |
|
• |
Integration of standard off-the-shelf with custom built applications. |
|
• |
Integrated Geographical Information System (GIS) functions with ‘near
real-time’ update. |
|
• |
Automatic data escalation across system for a ‘near real-time’ system
information update. |
|
• |
System alerts to indicate real-time events (e.g. readiness conditions or
change in situation pictures). |
|
• |
Integrated browsing function for remote data access. |
|
• |
Full multimedia support for audio and video. |
|
• |
Real-time data interconnection option (e.g. ship data, position
monitoring etc.) |
