SIS is a computer-based strategic information system.
It facilitates concise, highly summarised information to provide the
basis for decision-making for top-level commanders in the armed
forces or top-level executives in the corporate sector. It is a
highly customisable system that can suit military-type organizations
or corporate establishments.

The information provided
must be concise and represent first level of information, which may
be used as the basis for decision-making. The system is also
designed to present the successive second level information detail
provided the required details are made available in the system by
the information providers. |

SIS is configured and arranged with the following considerations.

Organisational
Function - designed to meet the
hierarchy of the information currently being practiced. The information will be provided by all departments , which are headed by the departmental head according to the organizational structure. |

System User Function – various
user groups will be
using SIS during their day-to-day operations: |

Enduser
– target user group who will utilize the
information the most. The
access for this group may be confined to its own area or to other
areas. The access rights functionality is configurable during the
system operation.

Webmaster - This user group will
maintain the SIS
information. They are given access rights such that
they can update information within their own work area. |

• |
Chief
Webmaster / System Administrator - The SA will be responsible for
the control and operation of the SIS. |

The SIS system is
designed to sustain the information availability at all time. The
system is based on the intranet technology with central information
repository.

The system has an access right facility is designed to be flexible
and easy to use. A Chief Webmaster / System administrator is capable
to change or modify the user access rights to any information access
during the system operation. |

The SIS uses the
smart card as added security. All user details like user name,
identification number, access right controls and user's photo are
stored in the smart card. |
|
All users in the
network can access the system, including users connecting via
dial-up through the normal telephone line with a specially
configured hardware and software. For the purpose of the network
security the following security measures are implemented.
